Duane Smasal, 77 of Stanley died Friday, Oct. 8,
2010. He was born on Jan. 26th, 1933 to the late
George and Elizabeth (Boardman) Smasal. Duane
grew up on the family farm and graduated from Stanley
High in 1950. He was a lifelong farmer.
On July 22, 1953 he married Elizabeth “Betty”
Steinmetz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson.
Duane enjoyed to hunt and fish, play cards and watch
his grandkids play sports.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Stanley, his children
Jim (Kitty) Smasal of Greenfield, MN., Lori Grzeszczak
of Marshville, N.C., Mary (John) Anderson of New
Richmond and Tammy (Wayne) Foster of Eau Claire, 9
grandchildren Joshua (Ashley) Anderson, Shawn
Anderson, Trevor Anderson, Chelsea Anderson,
Adriana Grzeszczak, Cassandra Grzeszczak, Montana
Smasal, Amanda Foster and Ariane Foster, one
brother, Terry Smasal of Stanley and one sister
Georgianne “Sis” Freese of Stanley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, children,
Ricky, Bruce, Roxanne, Douglas and Gregory
A memorial mass will be at 6 PM on Wednesday, Oct.
13, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley
with Father Joseph officiating. Visitation will be from 3
PM until time of services at the Church.
The Plombon Funeral Home is assisting the family.
