Lucille L. McQuillan, 91 of Boyd, died Tuesday,
August 17, 2010 at the Chippewa Manor
Nursing Home, Chippewa Falls, WI. She was
born on Jan. 4, 1919 in Boyd the daughter of
the late Edward and Dorothy (Shilts) Berchem.
Lucille attended area schools, graduating from
Boyd High School and later married Bernard
“Boney” McQuillan on June 24, 1941 at St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boyd. The couple
owned and operated Boney’s Bar and later
Boney’s Bowl and Bar in Boyd until their
retirement in 1977. They loved the Packers,
being outdoors spending time with their family
and dancing together. Lucille was known for
her sense of humor and later in life enjoyed jig
saw puzzles. She was a member of St.
Elizabeth’s Society and the Silent Circle at St.
Joseph’s.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie
(Kenneth) Pilgrim & Kathy (Martin) Ciolkosz,
Thomas (Laurie) McQuillan and Dennis (Judy)
McQuillan, all of Boyd, 15 grandchildren, 14
great grandchildren, one sister in law, Frances
Carey of Eau Claire and many nieces and
nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband
Bernard (’07), her parents and three brothers,
Marvin, Arnold and Leo Berchem.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday,
August 19, 2010 at 12 noon at St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Boyd. Father Joseph Raja
will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parish
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 until 11:30 a.
m. on Thursday at the Plombon Funeral Home,
Stanley. The family would like to express their
gratitude and give special thanks to the
employees at the Chippewa Manor who gave
such wonderful care to their mother while
residing there.
