Ronald Hakes, age 95 of the Town of Edson passed
away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Miller
Alternative Care Center, Thorp, WI. A Christian Burial
Mass will be held on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 10:
30 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, WI
with Fr. Joseph Raja officiating. Burial will follow in the
parish cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4-8
P.M. Thursday evening at the Plombon Funeral
Chapel, Stanley, WI.
Ron was born November 16, 1915 in Stanley, WI, the
son of the late George & Almira (Dewey) Hakes. He
grew up in the Stanley area and attended area
schools. On October 19, 1937 he was united in
marriage to Mary Diedrich at St. Ann’s Catholic Church
in Stanley. The couple resided in the Town of Delmar
for 3 years before moving to the Town of Edson where
they resided and farmed until retirement. Ron also
drove milk truck for the Ludington Creamery and
worked at the Yellowstone Implement, Everson’s Feed
Mill and the Victory Memorial Hospital. Ron is survived
by his children, Jeanette (Marvin) Ziwisky, Mary Jane
(Herb) Eichelt & Darlene (Richard) Selzler all of
Stanley, WI; Debra (Dwayne) Kesting of Eau Claire, WI;
Ronald Hakes Jr. of Sobieski, WI; Duane (Kathy) Hakes
of Lavonia, GA; Kenneth (Kathy) Hakes of Stanley, WI;
26 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 9 great-
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2005,
one son Melvin, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild,
and 1 great-great grandchild.
