Mildred V. Bernhardt a resident of The Homeplace of
1918 in Stanley to Martin and Marie (Aasegard) Olson.  
She grew up on the family farm in the Town of Edson
and attended elementary school at Riverview country
school--and high school in Stanley where she graduated
in 1936.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our
Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanley.  Following high
school Milly went to Eau Claire and attended nurses
training at Luther Hospital.  She graduated in 3 years--
and became a registered nurse.  When she received
her license-she went to Chicago where she was a nurse
at Cook County Hospital.  She met her husband “Dick”
while in Chicago. They married on July 19, 1941, at Our
Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanley.  Milly worked at
several hospitals in Chicago--and retired in 1978.  In
1989,  Milly moved back to Stanley.  She has been a
resident in Stanley ever since.  She has been an active
member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and at  Our
Lady of Victory Hospital, and the Stanley Area Historical
Society. Milly is survived by her son John and Kathy
Bernhardt of Houston Texas and two nieces Karen
Anderson Stoner, of Downing, Marilyn Olson Ferguson
of Litchfield MN, and three nephews Wayne Anderson of
Inver Grove Heights MN, Bryan Anderson of Tomahawk,
and Robert Olson of Minneapolis MN.--and  many  great
nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her two sisters Evelyn
Anderson and infant Myrtle Eleanor Olson and four
brothers Carl, Gilbert, Henry, and Olaf Olson.  
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 27th
at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church 147 E. 4th Avenue,
Stanley.  Rev. Sarah Semmler-Smith will officiate. She
will be interred at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chicago on
Friday at 1:00 p.m.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until
time of services Thursday at the church. The Plombon
Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
