Florence Stelter, age 86, of Stanley, passed away on
Friday, February 10, 2012 at Wissota Health & Rehab
Center under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. She
was born on March 10, 1925 in the Town of Reseburg
south of Thorp to the late Louis and Nettie (Harper)
Pagel and grew up attending the State Graded School
in Reseburg.
On October 10, 1942 she was united in marriage to
Lyle Stelter at St. Paul’s Lutheran parsonage in Thorp.
They lived in Eau Claire until 1947 when they started
dairy farming south of Stanley. In 1951 they bought a
farm in the Town of Edsvold and raised their five
daughters there. Florence was a “stay at home mom”
but she wasn’t always in the house. One could find her
driving tractor, milking and feeding the cows and in the
large garden that was planted every year. She and
Lyle retired in 1982 when they moved to Stanley.
Florence will be remembered for her devotion to her
husband and daughters. She was a quiet person who
was the driving force in her loved ones reaching their
goals and dreams. She made the best baked bread
and pies around and many laughs were enjoyed at her
bountiful table. As the Proverbs 31 woman, she always
saw to her husband and children’s needs before her
own. She was instrumental in raising her five
daughters to have faith seeing to it that they regularly
attended church and Sunday School. She provided
care for her husband, Lyle as his health declined. Lyle
passed away in 1999.

Florence is survived by her five daughters, Jeanette (Paul, Jr.) Isenberger of Morganfield, Kentucky,
Nancy Turecek of Racine, WI, Bonnie Vircks of Stanley, Donna (Michael) Thompson of Cumberland, WI
and Wendy (Gail) Stelter of Chippewa Falls, 8 grandchildren, Annette Isenberger-Bolds, Diana
Isenberger-Barraza, Teresa (Orin) Brownlee, Todd Turecek, Chad, Brad and Darren Vircks and
Roxanne (David) Thompson-Benson, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, one brother,
Theron (Maryln) Pagel of Eau Claire and one sister, Alice Danielewicz of Owen. She was preceded in
death by her husband Lyle, her parents, a granddaughter, Jodi Vircks, twin grandsons, Keith & Kenneth
Isenberger, four brothers, Henry, Louie Jr., John and Fred Pagel and 7 sisters, Alene, Allie, Julia, Nettie,
Leora, Evelyn and MaryAnn.
