Claudia E. Ryba, 102 of Rice Lake, formerly of Boyd
passed away on January 1, 2018. She was born on
December 5, 1915 in Boyd to the late John and Mary
(Roith) Zwiefelhofer. She attended Victory and St.
Joseph School in Boyd and graduated from Boyd High
in 1934. Claudia continued her education at Eau Claire
Teachers College graduating in 1936 and taught at
Victory School in the Town of Delmar.  She married Ben
Ryba on July 4, 1940 and they farmed in the town of
Delmar for 30 years.
Claudia was a very active member of St. Joseph
Catholic Parish and started teaching School in 1967
until 1981. Throughout her teaching career and
continuing until 2008 she taught CCD. During her
teaching years and retirement she tutored many
children. She loved gardening, cooking and baking and
was an excellent seamstress. Claudia will be
remembered by the community and her family for the
dozens of cut out cookies she made for her CCD
students, children and grandchildren. Baking cookies
for feast days and holidays was especially important to
her. Of great enjoyment to her was being a member of a
6 couple sheepshead group for 47 years with her
husband, Ben.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Dennis
Sakach) Wirsbinski of Rice Lake, Ben (Dorothy) Ryba of
Cameron, Paula (Ray) Gadke of Platteville and Ken
(Cathy) Ryba of Chippewa Falls, 10 grandchildren,
Margo (Tim) Novak, Joe (Liz) Wirsbinski, John (Jessica)
Ryba, Cheryl Ryba, Phillip (Toni) Gadke, Vanessa
(Brent) Riesen, Isaac (Cassie) Ryba, Nathan Ryba,
Luke (Amanda) Ryba and Hannah Ryba and 8 great
grandchildren and two sisters in law, Mary (Bernard)
Zwiefelhofer of Mequon and Marceline (John)
Zwiefelhofer of Boyd. Claudia is preceded in death by
her husband Ben (Feb. 3, 1989), her parents, an infant
son, two brothers, John and Bernard Zwiefelhofer and
three sisters, Elaine Overman, Dolores Ripienski and
Jeanette Overman.
A service of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on
Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church-Boyd with Deacon Ned Willkom officiating.
Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10AM until time of service at the
Church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family. In
lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to St. Joseph’
s Catholic School-Boyd.
