Nancy Backhaus, 66 of Boyd, passed away on Tuesday, January 30,
2018 at Dove Wissota Health Center-Chippewa Falls under the care of
St. Joseph’s Hospice. She was born on February 17, 1951 in Paris, Illinois
the daughter of the late Russell and Eva (Wilson) Camp. Nancy was
raised in Edgar county Illinois and graduated from Eastern Illinois
University in elementary Education. She taught elementary education for
36 years. Nancy married Jim Backhaus on August 1, 1979 and the couple
has lived in Boyd since.
Nancy enjoyed children and cooking, traveling and family. She went on
many motorcycle trips with Jim and friends. Nancy very much enjoyed
their house and her friends in Arizona during the winter. She was a
member of St. Joseph Church in Boyd.
Nancy is survived by her husband Jim and son John (Jaclyn) Backhaus
both of Boyd and daughter Laura (fiancée Kyle DeGoey) Backhaus of St.
Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Eva Camp and a
cousin Gary Wright who grew up in her parents’ home.
A memorial mass will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 10th, 2018
at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Boyd with Father William Felix and Father
Kurt Afelbeck concelebrating. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday at the Plombon
Funeral Home-Stanley with a 7:30 Parish Vigil and Saturday morning from
10AM until time of service at the Church.
