Jean Ellis

Obituary:

Jean N. Ellis, 84, of Gilman, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026. She was born on Sept. 22, 1942, to the late Elgen and Gladys (Mallo) Ruse. She grew up in the area and graduated from Gilman High School. She married Malone Ellis on March 25, 1961. They had two children, David and Nadine, and the family farmed in Gilman for much of their lives. Jeanie enjoyed simple pleasures like country music, gentle novels, a soft dog, and a good horse. She was the picture of patience, hard work, and devotion.

She is survived by her daughter, Nadine (Scott) Capelle of Gilman; her daughter-in-law, Andie Ellis; her granddaughter, Mandee Ellis; her grandsons, Eric Ellis and Colton Capelle; and her great-grandchildren, Dylan Herring and Reed Capelle, who will all miss her deeply. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Malone (2013; her son, David; and her sister, Lois Horn.
