Cremation
Choosing cremation as your final disposition actually is more complex than more people understand. There are more legal documents to obtain for instance. Cremation creates more options when it comes to time, affordability, retention of the remains, etc. Cremation has become more popular and with that, we strive to memorialize life. Like a traditional funeral and burial, cremation is a way to honor and pay tribute to a loved one.
Cremation is simply another way of preparing the remains for remembrance.
Contrary to what some may believe, cremation does not constrict the options you have in honoring a life.
Viewing
Many families still choose to have some form of formal viewing. It allows those with varying schedules to come and see their loved ones under a format that is more intimate and personal. No one is looking over your shoulder as you pay your respects to your family member. They look more natural and peaceful than they did when they passed. Viewing the deceased is an important step in acknowledging the death and beginning the healing process.
This viewing can be done privately or in addition to public visitation. This process can be done at a reasonable cost.
Cremation & Funerals
Although it is never required, we strongly encourage you to hold a formal service to celebrate and remember a life. Elaborate or simple, traditional or contemporary, arrangements and ceremonies can be as unique as the persons for whom they are made. Just like a funeral service followed by burial, a traditional formal service can be held with a cremation following the remembrance. For the service, you can select a cremation casket (a casket to be cremated) or a rental casket. After cremation, the remains can then be buried, properly scattered, or placed in an urn.
A memorial service is another option available to you. This cremation option typically consists of immediate cremation of the body followed by a memorial service for friends and family. This importance of this step is the same as a traditional burial.
If you do not wish to hold a ceremony or service, we can discuss other options more suitable for you. A direct cremation is an option limiting funeral services to the removal of remains from the place of death, transportation, and cremation of the deceased.
