Obituary:
Margaret V. Schultze, age 103, of Stanley, passed away peacefully on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2025, at Turner Integrity Care–Thorp, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. Margaret was born on March 10, 1922, in Stanley, to the late George and Emma (Moe) Drace. She was raised in Stanley and later married James H. Schultze on June 5, 1940, in Thorp. The couple made their home in Stanley, where they raised their four children.Margaret enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially watching The Price Is Right and listening to polka music. She was a hard worker throughout her life, spending 40 years employed at the Stanley Corporation. After retiring, she continued to stay active by working at Long Branch well into her 70s. She also loved attending thrift sales—if there was one nearby, Margaret was sure to be there.
She is survived by her children, Barb Hodowanic of Stanley and Linda (Tom) Stelzer of Cadott; 10 grandchildren: Rick, Sherry, Diane, Pam, Kristy, Brooke, Brent, Bronson, Charlie, and Jim; 29 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her children, Larry, Carol and Eleanor in infancy; her son-in-law, Gene; her daughter-in-law, Ann; her brothers, Roy and Jack Drace; her sisters, Lillian Foster, Georgia Calasemo, Shirley Asselin, Mary Schultze, and Phyllis Kaczmarczyk; her grandchildren, Jim and Liz; and one great-great-grandchild, Layla.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley, with Rev. Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Oakland Cemetery in Stanley.
