Obituary:
Gary A. Wilcenski, 74, of Gilman, died on Thursday, February 26, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1951, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley to the late Alois and Mary (Rembleski) Wilcenski. Gary grew up in the area and graduated from Gilman High School. He married Carolyn Knapp on July 14, 1984.Gary grew up farming and continued farming for many years. He later acquired his CDL and drove milk truck for Lynn Dairy for many years, a job he took great pride in. Hard work was simply a part of who he was. In addition to his career, Gary faithfully served his community for 38 years as a member of the Town of Aurora Board. He also served as a Fire Warden, always committed to looking out for his neighbors and the community he cared about deeply.
He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers every Sunday and following the Milwaukee Brewers. Whether cheering during football season or keeping up with baseball throughout the summer, those games were some of his favorite pastimes.
Above all, Gary’s family was the most important part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his daughter, Danielle Wilcenski of Merrill; and his son, Jamie Wilcenski of LaCrosse. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren — Halle, Violet, Kilian, and Jace — who brought him great joy. He is further survived by his sisters, Joan (Ted) Zawacki of Eau Claire and Diane Wilcenski of Middleton, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Jeanie in infancy and Kathleen O’Brian.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Gilman Funeral Home with Father Joseph Stefancin officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery in Gilman. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
