Virginia Ketterhagen

Obituary:

Virginia A. Ketterhagen, 89 of Thorp, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Oakbrook Nursing and Rehab Center-Thorp under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born on October 1, 1936 at the family home in the Town of Wilson-Eau Claire County to the late Raymond and Helen (Hera) Marion. She grew up there and attending area schools: graduating from Augusta High School.

Virginia spent many years on the farm and also worked at multiple businesses in Eau Claire. She enjoyed spending time with her family: her face would light up with love when her grandchildren would come to visit. Virginia enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and she also enjoyed gardening her flowers in the spring and going for rides.

She is survived by her children, Janice (Robert) Krzyzanowski of Thorp, Duane (Tracy) Ketterhagen of Stanley, Brenda (Eugene) Czubakowski, Jerry Ketterhagen and Bruce (Kim Zurakowski) Ketterhagen all of Thorp 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandson, her brother, Ray (Carol) Marion of Stanley, and her sisters, Dorothy Markham of Stanley, Alberta “Birdie” (Lester) Drehmel of Fall Creek and Patricia (Jerome) Fitzsimmons of Stanley. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter in law, Janet Ketterhagen and her brother in law, Lloyd Markham.

A funeral service will be at 11AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church-Stanley with Father William Felix officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery-Town of Wilson. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 AM on Tuesday at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley.
